Top Beaches of the Caribbean

Each year, Trip Advisor publishes their Travelers’ Choice Awards for the top 25 beaches in the world and by region. I love browsing through the lists to see how many of the places we have visited. This year Trip Advisor’s Top Beaches of the Caribbean included several of my own favorites.

Eagle Beach – Aruba
Number 2 on Trip Advisor’s list, Eagle Beach is famous for its two divi divi trees. Divi divi trees in Aruba always point to the southwest, shaped by the trade winds that constantly blow across the island. You can make reservations at Passions on the Beach for a romantic dinner with your feet in the sand.

Seven Mile Beach – Negril, Jamaica
Negril’s Seven Mile Beach came in at Number 5. Along the nearly seven miles of sand, you can find everything from horseback riding tours and freshly cooked lobster to travelling musicians who will play reggae songs by your lounge chair. The sunsets are stunning.

Warwick Long Bay – Bermuda
Trip Advisor listed Horseshoe Bay Beach as their Number 8 beach, not Warwick Long Bay, but my vote is for Warwick. It has the same famous pink sand and limestone coves as Horseshoe Bay but fewer tourists. We were lucky enough to see Bermuda longtail birds flying around their nests in the rocks during our visit.

Trunk Bay – St John, US Virgin Islands
There’s a reason this beach is featured in so many travel magazines. Trunk Bay, part of the Virgin Islands National Park, has pristine white sand, turquoise water and an underwater snorkeling trail. The beach lost some of its natural shade but none of its beauty during Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Trunk Bay came in at Number 17.

Arashi Beach – Aruba
Not far from the California Lighthouse on the north end of the island, Arashi Beach received the Number 20 spot. It is the only beach I’ve ever seen that had cactuses.

Cabbage Beach – New Providence Island, Bahamas
I deviated from Trip Advisor’s list again and replaced Cable Beach (Number 24) with Cabbage Beach. The section of beach next to the Atlantis Resort can be busy, but walk down a bit and you’ll find plenty of elbow room. If you look carefully, you might be able to spot the villa at the One and Only Ocean Club where James Bond stayed in Casino Royale.

  1. That's a giant cactus on Arashi beach! I agree with you on the Bermuda beaches, and want to check out more of them!
